Samenvatting:
Dirk Braeckman (°;1958) studeerde aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone
Kunsten te Gent, afdeling foto en film. In 2017 vertegenwoordigde hij
België op de 57ste Biënnale van Venetië en geldt daarmee als een van de
meest vooraanstaande hedendaagse Belgische kunstenaars. Binnen zijn
oeuvre tast Braeckman de grenzen af van zowel de analoge als de digitale
fotografie.
Zijn werk was reeds te zien in The Modern Art Museum
of Fort Worth (USA), LE BAL (Paris), De Pont (Tilburg), De Appel
(Amsterdam), S.M.A.K. (Ghent), BOZAR (Brussels), M (Leuven) and
ROSEGALLERY (Santa Monica, CA) en maakt deel uit van zowel museale als
privé-collecties over de hele wereld waaronder FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais
(Dunkirk), Sammlung Goetz (Munich), De Pont (Tilburg), Fondation
Nationale d'Art Contemporain (Paris), Central Museum (Utrecht), Musée
d'Art Contemporain et Moderne (Strasbourg).
Opleiding:
Braeckman studeerde van 1977 tot 1981 aan de Koninklijke Academie voor
Schone Kunsten te Gent, afdeling foto en film.
